Jessica Wriggins

Creator of Let’s Talk Diabetes

Diagnosed with Type One Diabetes at the age of 11, Jessi grew up seeing and experiencing first hand the stigma and lack of knowledge around Diabetes. Throughout school, she was always involved in Band, Theatre, and Choir, and made an effort to never let Diabetes hold her back. She learned to use her voice, and become her own advocate, because no one around her had any knowledge of what her diagnosis and illness really entailed. She is now a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician and studying for her Paramedic License, all while balancing Diabetes and everything that comes along with it. She is the current reigning Miss Cape Resort, within the Miss America Opportunity, which is where her desire to educate and impact those within her community really took into effect, and she aims to change how America, and the world, views Diabetes.

"Together, we can change the future for Diabetics, and ensure that each and every person impacted by this disease is still able to live a long, healthy, and fulfilling life, accomplishing everything they have ever dreamed of and more. So come join me, and Let’s Talk Diabetes, you’d be surprised where a simple discussion can take you!"
